Defeat the Calbrena dolls hiding behind his throne. Proceed on to aid the King of the Dwarves. It doesn't really change here, but you still feel like you'll need to play it for the sake of completionism.Ībout midway through the game, you can descend into the Underground by placing the Magma Key in the town of Agart's well. If you've played other versions, it was clear there was much to be desired comparing other entries. You'll be left alone to discover what you would have loved and not loved about Final Fantasy II. That is perhaps because much of the original gameplay has been relatively untouched. However, something about this release seems to transcend players back to the early days. Yes, Final Fantasy II has seen numerous rereleases over the years that featured graphical and gameplay overhauls. The burning question remains whether the Final Fantasy II remodel holds up as a piece of nostalgia or a missing part of the puzzle? Whatever the case, we are finally given access to the game in one of its purer forms, mechanically speaking.
